About
Board your log flume and prepare to get wet as you enter the world of Br'er Rabbit, Br'er Fox, and Br'er Bear. Flumes wind through animatronic depictions of Br'er Rabbit's adventures set throughout the mountain. In-between the story segments, the riders will experience a series of drops of varying heights and intensities. This all culminates in the main 52.5 foot drop as Br'er Rabbit tries to make his daring escape.
Tips and Trivia
- The left side of the back of the log flume tends to provide the driest ride. However, as it is Splash Mountain, you still might get wet. Very wet.
- Sometimes getting wet can be a much welcome relief from the heat. Extra water is actually added in on hotter days.
- This ride depicts different scenes from the animated portions of Song of the South.
- "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah," which is prominently featured in this ride, won the 1947 Academy Award for Best Song.c.
Review
I love Splash Mountain. I loved Splash Mountain when it first opened, and I love it even more today. It's gotten better with time. The songs are catchy, the animatronic scenes are charming, and the drops are thrilling. The ride paces along almost perfectly, with the story scenes acting as a nice breather from the thrill and tension of the drops. The story scenes don't last so long that it takes away from the fun of the ride. However, the very end of the ride after the big drop does disappoint a bit. Because of loading and unloading ahead, the log flumes go through a traffic bottleneck. That means your flume can be sitting still, waiting to move forward to the end of the ride. That part has all the fun of waiting in rush hour traffic.
But dwelling on that is missing the point. Splash Mountain is pure fun, and one of the finest examples of the experience Walt Disney World can provide.
