Review: We stayed at the Contemporary Resort for Christmas and
Wedding Anniversary 2004. We found the place to
be friendly, clean, and very enjoyable. We had a
ground floor garden room overlooking the lake. We actually saw a pelican dive
into the water and catch a fish, What a site to see.
I have to admit we did not spend a lot of time in the room because there
was so many other things to do. We were there for four days and five nights and
spent as much time in the parks and downtown Disney as we could.
The transportation within Disney serves as a model for the world. I turned in
our rental car on the very first day and depended on
Disney. Disney got me to wherever I wanted to go quickly without the hassle of
battling the traffic. The monorail took us to
most everyplace we wanted to go and the rest was with a bus every fifteen
minutes from just outside our front door.
The food was very good. We found the snack shack in the lobby by the game room
as very convenient and very tasty and less expensive then the restaurants.
Their biscuits and gravy is excellent.
I cannot think of anything negative about the Contemporary Resort. The price
was fair and the people were most helpful.
Disney serves as an example to the world of business.

Review: All I can say is: Wow, Wow, Wow! People say that this is
the worst themed resort and I have to totally disagree. I loved the A-frame
tower and the convenient monorail service. The food was excellent (especially at
the Concourse Steakhouse) and the service was amazing. We stayed here for 5
nights and every one of them was as contemporary as it was gonna get!

Review: We stayed here 5 nights under the Shades of Green program.
My husband is retired military. We had a North wing room on the second floor
with a garden view. A great value for about $105 per
night. The room was large and
comfortable enough for us and our two boys, ages 8 and 11. We enjoyed the
decorating style and did not mind that Mickey wasn't
plastered all over the place. However, I would
have been quite unhappy if we had been paying full price for this hotel. I don't
mean to sound snotty, but we have stayed in $300/nt
hotels in some of the biggest cities in the world (London, New York, Madrid) and
this hotel didn't compare to any of them. Our
housekeeping service was poor to say the least.
Both adults were quite ill and we traded off one sleeping late and the other
taking the kids to the parks. Finally at 5:00 pm one
evening housekeeping still had not been to the room
although the Do Not Disturb sign had been down for 5 hours. It turns out they
would not come in to clean while there was a man in
the room, even though he was up and dressed. The next
day, the same thing except that I finally convinced
her to come in and clean around me. Really, with a 103 degree fever, there is
very little place to be but in your room.
Yes, I know that certain things are beyond anyone's control, but the
water for the entire hotel was off for about 8 to 12
hours. There was a main line break in the south garden wing and they had to move
everyone out of their ground floor rooms in the middle
of the night. I don't mind that sometimes things like
this will happen--they happen everywhere--but that you
get the Disney "spin." Since it happened in the middle of
the night, they seemed to assume no one would notice
until 6:00 am when they sent voice mail to each room (thankfully not
riniging the phones). Nothing more annoying than being
four hours into a no-water situation with two adults
with food poisoning and someone chirping at you to
have a "magical day." I had called reception sometime in the middle of the night
and requested a bucket of water from somewhere,
anywhere so we could flush the toilet that was being
used 6 times per hour. Nothing, no response from
maintenance services. I know that they were in over
their heads, but so were we. The food court was
often *filthy* and sticky beyond belief. The kids enjoyed going on the
refillable mug trips. It gave them a couple minutes of
freedom that our boys, recently adopted from Eastern Europe,
have not had a taste of. It was nice to be somewhere
that felt safe enough to let them go off on their
own for a few minutes once they had shown that they knew their way there
and back. All in all, Disney is not our sort of
vacation. We like adventure travel to the artic circle, Galapagos,
skiing and foreign travel. Our kids however, had a blast
and that, after all, was the purpose of the whole trip, but not one that
I think we will repeat.

Review: Stayed for 6 nights under Shades of Green for military
rates of $89/night. Very nice. However, we toured the
Animal Kingdom Lodge along with other WDW resort
hotels. And we're definitely making reservations for the
AKL.

Review: We have stayed at the contemporary 3 times, only because
Shades of Green is being renovated. There really is no comparison, the light
didn't work, there was a huge stain on the carpet, there was one lady who worked
at the desk who was exceptional, but overall we were very disappointed. Staying
there can't even compare to the friendliness, courtesy, and value for the money
at shades of green.

Review: We enjoyed our stay very much.
Chef Mickey's was great -- would
recommend both breakfast and dinner there. We
did both and felt that it was worth the cost, although the resort it self is a
bit dated compared to some of the newer deluxe resorts.
The rooms were a nice size and kept up to
Disney standards. But the best part is having the monorail right there, I am
sure this is why it is still considered a deluxe resort. Our vacation was
during anniversary of 9/11. The
parks were not busy at all we were able to go from one attraction to another
with no wait.

Review: My husband and I stayed for 5 nights in Feb. of 2001, we
had a wonderful time. We stayed in the N. Garden wing, and the rooms were
spotless! This was our 6th time back, and we are planning another trip
this September and can't wait to return. The monorail going right through the
hotel is so convenient, within minutes we were in Magic Kingdom. We love Chef
Mickey's for breakfast and the Concourse Steak house has excellent food! We also
made a habit of going up to the California Grill to have dessert at night, the
bartenders are so fun to chat with and the atmosphere is great. It's a great
place to stay if your a couple with no kids, but we saw tons of families having
just as much fun as we were!!!

Review: I was very excited to be staying at the Contemporary. The only
convenience was that it was on the monorail. But it wasn't worth it.
The ladies I spoke to at the front desk weren't friendly, which is very uncommon
for all of my experience with WDW. There was confusion with the bill, and the
lady at the desk was not helpful at all. As a matter of fact, she was
rude. At the food court/arcade area there was one exceptional girl who was
a cashier. She was the only one who I felt to be Disney quality. The
others were very impersonal. A helpful tip: if you are leaving Magic
Kingdom at closing time, it is often faster to follow the sidewalk to the
Contemporary, rather than waiting to ride the monorail! Overall, I wish I
had stayed at Old Key West!
