Review: I have stayed at Port Orleans three times, and will be returning to the French Quarter November '04 for my birthday.  It is one of the best resorts!  It is quiet and quaint and because it's not a huge resort, you don't have to walk far from your room to the lobby, food court, or gift shop.  The pool area is wonderful and a lot of fun.  Also, you can take the boats to Downtown Disney, so you don't have to worry about driving or taking the buses.  I can't say enough about the resort!  I have stayed at other Disney Resorts, and this is the best.  Can't wait to go again in November!

Review: My daughter and I spend five nights at the French Quarter March 5 thru 10.  This was our first trip to Disney so I can't compare this resort to any other.  But, I just thought it was so quaint and so personable.  By the end of our stay, the bartender at the pool knew what I drank, and the workers in the food court asked my daughter everyday what park we had gone to and what was her favorite ride there, etc....  I think we vacationed the right way.  We had the ultimate hopper pass so we decided to visit a different park everyday.  We'd go in the morning to the park, but when the crowds got to be too much and the lines too long, we went back to the pool.  What a great pool for kids.  The pool is heated from 8am to 8pm (and it's warm, almost too warm) and the pool is open 24 hours a day.  So, when we got to the hotel at 10pm that first night, we went swimming.  The pool depth range from 3 feet to 4 1/2 feet.  There is also a separate kiddie pool for the really little ones.  And just up the path from the pool (all the paths are brick walkways and at night you can take a horse and buggy ride) there is a hot tub.  Since the river runs right next to this resort, the boat is the way to go to Downtown Disney.  You can also take the boat the other way to French Quarter's sister resort, Riverside.  The boats come every 40 minutes during the day, and after 4pm, every 10 minutes.  Riverside is a bigger resort.  It has a bigger food court and 6 pools.  But, we met several people from Riverside at the French Quarter pool because our pool was 'way cooler' (because of the serpent slide).  At Riverside you can also rent bicycles or these little 7 HP motor fiberglass boats to cruise up and down the river.  But, the boats aren't cheap.  $20.00 for a half hour.  Before I left, I called French Quarter and requested building 5 because it was right next to the pool.  They honored my request.  We got a room on the other side of the building from the pool.  It was perfect.  We heard no noise from the pool, yet if I needed to run back to the room for something, it was a quick run. And with 4 lifeguards monitoring the pool at all times, I did not worry about leaving my daughter there alone for a couple of minutes.  The food in the food court is not the greatest.  You're not going to get a gourmet meal there.  But, we had packed granola bars, etc...for breakfast.  Just threw them in the backpack and ate them in the park or on the bus.  We'd usually eat a big lunch somewhere in the park.  We were so busy swimming at the pool, that we didn't eat dinner every night until 7pm - 8pm.  And by that time, an individual pizza or a chicken sandwich was just enough.  If we did get hungry during pool time, we would just bring our food out to the pool area.  They have a really nice area for sitting.  But be aware of the birds. They are not shy about stealing your food.

All in all, I would stay at French Quarter again.  Loved the place.  Small environment, not hoity toity at all.  Well worth the money.

Review: I recognize that part of the price I paid for this resort was to have the convenience of being on Disney property and to have the transportation.  The transportation was excellent, despite being there the weekend of the WDW marathon.  As for the hotel proper, I was disappointed.  I had requested a refrigerator when I made my reservation for medical reasons.  I was advised that the fridge would be at no charge as a result.  I confirmed this directly with the hotel prior to my arrival and upon check in.  The fridge was not brought up to the room.  After two hours, I called the front desk and asked when it would be brought up.  The person I spoke to demanded to know if I had reserved one, and went on to (rudely) inform me that I would be charged ten dollars per day.  I again explained that I had been offered (not asked for!!) the fridge at no charge due to my son's medical condition, and reiterated that this had been confirmed with the hotel directly before and upon check in.  On check out, I was charged on my bill for the fridge in any event.  I was not advised that this might happen, and only upon careful review (which I was not going to perform!) did I see the charges.  While they were reversed without a problem, I noted that the person to the left and the right of me at the front desk on check out also had multiple charges on their bills, respectively, which were either unauthorized or charged more than once.

Other complaints:
1) Noisy - could hear every toilet around flush repeatedly and loudly throughout each night;  this experience was shared by several other guests I spoke with during my stay
2) I have NEVER stayed in a hotel where coffee makers have to be requested!  When I did receive the coffee maker, I had to supply my own coffee and accompaniments - even motels have in room coffee - this was a moderate resort??
3) Overall, while the stylings of the exterior of the resort were very attractive, the rooms were very basic.  NO amenities in room such as an ironing board, no hair dryer, etc.
4) The front desk staff were not exceptionally helpful - they did what was required, and did so perfunctorily.  Compared to the fabulous service in every restaurant we attended as well as in the parks generally, it was a disappointment.

Housekeeping and bell services were helpful.

NOT GOOD VALUE FOR THE MONEY!!  I left wondering if this was the level of service in a moderate resort what it would be like to stay in a value resort?

I will be very reluctant to stay on Disney property again.  The only overwhelming benefit was the ease of transportation to the parks.-

Review: Our room was not overly clean.  I must admit I was expecting it to be perfect (being Disney) but it was not.  The shower curtain was moldy.  I guess that was my worst complaint.  The help was very friendly and wonderful.  The front desk staff was overly friendly and helpful.  We would stay there again.

Review: This is too funny, I had the exact same thing happen to me as Melanie. I booked a cruise when I was 19 for my honey moon.  We couldn't do a thing so we tried another cruise line, but they wouldn't let us get on without a legal adult.  So we hopped on a flight to Disney World an hour after getting off the commodore ship.  We had the best time and got a discount on the rooms too.

Review: Excellent Resort . We had a hard time leaving it everyday to go to the parks . I could spend a week just lounging around the resort . We especially enjoyed the quiet pools for a little more privacy . We don't have one complaint about it .  Can't wait to go back.

Review: When my family visited Disney World, we stayed at this wonderful hotel. When we checked in, we paid our balance with traveler's checks. I had accidentally given the counter person $100 too much. When we discovered we were short the $100 (that afternoon) we went to the front desk and explained what we thought had happened. The manager greeted us and said he was waiting for the person to come to claim their money. We got our money, and off we went. I look forward to our trip back to Port Orleans next spring... for 2 weeks!

Review: My husband and I came to Disney with a problem.  We just got married 1 day beforehand and had to change our honeymoon plans. If you aren't 21, don't try to book a cruise from commodore or carnival.  We couldn't do anything but sit around on the cruises so we opted for Disney World. Within 1 hour of getting off the ship, that's right, we got off and they didn't refund our trip either, we had flights to Orlando and our hotel booked.  Upon arrival 2 hours later, we explained what happened, and they discounted our rooms $50 dollars a night.  We were thrilled!!  We got our passes and went into our room and I was amazed at the size and cleanliness of the room.  We went into the hot tub and had a wonderful time.  The lines were short at the attractions and the weather was gorgeous.  The food was excellent but hey if you think it's expensive, you pay for what you get.  The people were so considerate except for the person who took our do not disturb sign and the maid tried to come in at 8:00am.  By the 3rd day , she got it right.  I would recommend this hotel to anyone for a honeymoon or just whatever, and check out the boat rentals.

Review: My husband and I spent a week at Port Orleans during May 2000 on our honeymoon.  The entire experience was wonderful and magical!  We received excellent treatment the entire time.  At check-in they discovered we were honeymooners and upgraded our room.  We had a lovely, spacious corner room overlooking a beautiful fountain... and quite close to the Jacuzzi!!  We also received trinkets and beads and free champagne at the lounge.  The food at Bon Famille is wonderful!!  We never even tried another restaurant for breakfast.  Transportation to the parks was quick and easy with the buses running right on schedule.  I loved taking the ferry to downtown Disney for the nightlife.  We will definitely be back in May for our anniversary.  This is an excellent resort for a couple without children!  The housekeeping staff was wonderful.  Our room was kept immaculate!  They too were aware of our newlywed status and we would come back to the room in the evening to lovely little surprises from the staff.  Definitely the best resort for the money on site!!!

Review: Port Orleans was excellent. We had great food with lots of different choices. The pool was fun.  (especially the dragon slide.) They also had a playground. The rooms were nice, clean and quiet. The hotel really brought back the spirit of New Orleans.

Review: Three of my friends and myself stayed at Port Orleans for our senior trip. We are from Mississippi and we have visited Louisiana before and Port Orleans is themed perfect for it. I had stayed at other resorts inside Disney property and this is the best even for a moderate price resort. The best part about PO is that the pool is open 24 hours, so were able to visit all the parks during the day go to Pleasure Island at night then return to the motel and enjoy a refreshing swim in the pool. The food there was also very good. There was a variety to choose from each day.

Review: The Port Orleans site is beautiful.  The setting is quiet and designed well.  The room is spacious and also nicely decorated.  The food court gives you best buy for your dollars but is somewhat small and can be crowded during peak times.  Bus rides can be long to certain parks.  Would recommend for couples without children looking for nice setting at reasonable price or couples with older children.  The hotel is less "kid-friendly" than some of the other on-site hotels.

Review: Port Orleans is a step-up from the All-Star resorts.  The rooms are a little bigger,  and decorated nicer.  The thing that struck me about PO was how quiet it was in comparison to the All-Stars.  At night we heard very little noise, unlike the All-Stars. The walk to the front building from some of the rooms can be a little far there too.  But the walkways and streets are tree lined, so the trip is much more enjoyable. We liked PO and will probably return there next year.
